When:
Saturdays at 11am Yukon time / 3pm Atlantic, beginning September 19 and running to November 28. Between sessions there's an optional “read together” hour to do the reading with company.

Cost:
$150. Attend 7 of 8 sessions and $75 is refunded.
No one willing to commit will be turned away for lack of resources.

About the book and author

A Director Prepares is Anne Bogart’s work of reflection and provocation originally published in 2001. Charting through big ideas that underpin her work, this is a text I’ve returned to many times – not in full agreement, but always finding good questions and sparks for my own practice.

Anne Bogart is a theatre maker and director based in New York. Bogart was co-Artistic Directors of the SITI Company, which she founded with Japanese director Tadashi Suzuki in 1992. She is known for bringing Viewpoints training and creation from dance into theatre. She is a Professor at Columbia University where she runs the Graduate Directing Program. About the facilitator

Jacob Zimmer is a theatre maker, facilitator and dramaturge. Born in Cape Breton, raised in Halifax, studying in Vancouver and creating in Toronto, Jacob now lives in Whitehorse where he is Artistic Director of Pivot Theatre. He was introduced to Viewpoints and Bogart’s work through Mallory Catlett at SFU and later travelled to New York to study with SITI Co. In 20 years of co-creating and collaborating, he is grateful to have worked with remarkable people in Canada and internationally. As a facilitator and program designer, he’s worked with the Yukon Arts Foundation, Yukonstruct, the Banff Centre for the Arts and Creativity, Vancouver Foundation, and others. Despite dropping out of universities a few times in his life, he received a BFA from Simon Fraser University’s School for the Contemporary Arts and his MFA in Theatre from University of British Columbia.
